The 2012 Year Ender

Quite an eventful year methinks.
  • Started the year in love, a love that seemed mired with struggles despite the happiness and contentment there
  • Pondered on finding a new job due to future financial concerns and said as much to the bosses during the first quarter of the year
  • Spent time in Davao for work and reconnected with one of my godparents
  • Finally decided, in a small apartment in Davao City, to resign from my job by midyear, after weighing the pros and cons of leaving a company I had been with for four years
  • Lost love shortly after my return from Davao, but found something better -- acceptance
  • [insert typical pick up the pieces of your life things here]
  • Near year end, I finally got a new job, which led to me singing my heart out and jumping off a stage as part of the company Christmas party presentations -- singing live in front of a large audience is now checked off my invisible bucket list
  • Compiled fragmented stories I've written over the years and started one that I seriously believe I should finish
Through it all, I will always be thankful for those pillars in my life -- friends and family and a spirit dog named Kenji

Cheers to a year of change and struggle and in the words of Outsourced (TV Series):

A rare Manila taxi driver

In all my years of getting cabs here in Manila, tonight was one of those rare instances wherein the taxi driver was made of awesome.

These are the reasons:
  • He said that I should just pay him a hundred pesos (roughly USD 2.5) as he picked the wrong route when I gave him the freedom to choose which roads to take to hasten the trip.
  • His playlist consisted of Queen and Freddie Mercury tracks, including the tribute concert and some remixes
I decided to give him twice the fare that he mentioned when he dropped me off.

Let’s just say that some Manila taxi drivers have this general rep of being swindlers.

Dad Rawks

Back when I was in high school, my mom told me how I got my name. The first name comes from a saint who is celebrated on that day while the second was from the patron saint of the hospital I was born in.
Dad was the one who insisted that Genaro was the saint for that day but I’ve never seen a calendar that has indicated it.
Just a few minutes ago, Dad was asking where we could hang something he was holding.
Dad: “It’s a 2013 calendar. Also…”
*flips to August 2013
The name was right there. haha. Dad rawks.
This is the first calendar I’ve seen that actually had the Saint I was named after :D

Messages on Trees

I have heard that you are fine
Our worlds have become benign
And your scent, now seems non-existent
That last mark will soon be gone, I know

So let me linger here
Beneath the shadows of these trees
Just try to stop myself from digging

For the rains will surely come and wash away
This place rooted with our thoughts
This place where we have left our marks
This place that we once called our own

A Concept Album

Artist: Poetic Dog License
Album: Humping for Dominance

Track List:
01 A Sniff at your General Direction
02 A Call from Above
03 Messages on Trees
04 Deep Bones
05 Rabid Stares
06 A Whiter Shade of Fur
07 The Play, the Fight

So this is a new personal project for my creative side to work on. Hope I can get around to all the tracks - content-wise, before the end of the year.

Translating them into songs is going to be a challenge so outside assistance is welcome. :)

Maybe I should just make it into a poetry album or something. haha.

Questions and thoughts #12562

Would we find our balance?
What would be the net result?
Tick marks will fly with each encounter
What is our risk assessment for this engagement?

Tales of a broken heart

Stars, books and motorbikes
The tales of a broken heart
Films, texts and shared experience
The tales of a broken heart
Smiles, calls and closed doors
The tales of a broken heart
Silence, loss
